The Mango Kush cannabis strain is a classic uplifting hybrid that zeros in on bad vibes before destroying them with no remorse. The happiest, giggliest, and most mellow feelings take over in their place, putting the rest of your day on cruise control.

If you have a big sweet tooth or simply love exotic flavors, then Mango Kush is for you. Thankfully, growing Mango Kush is way easier — and faster — than growing a mango tree.

About Mango Kush Seeds

Background

It’d be amazing if the backstory for Mango Kush originated in a tropical province rich in mango crops. Maybe, by some miracle of nature, these Mango Kush plants absorbed the surrounding mango trees’ terpenes, creating flowers saturated with mango aromas.

However, in reality, no one really knows how Mango Kush seeds came to be. That doesn’t mean there isn’t speculation, of course. As it turns out, some of that speculation is pretty well-founded.

KC Brains is a Dutch breeder with a seed company by the same name. As a world traveler since 1979, he’s had ample opportunity to discover seeds and trade them along the way. In doing so, he’s come upon deliciously secret strains he later dubbed K.C. Special Select.

Which varieties these strains derive from, no one except KC knows. In any case, KC crossed his sativa Special Select KC 33 strain with an heirloom Afghani Kush plant, creating the Mango cannabis strain in the process. Mango is predominantly an indica, growing short and bushy as you’d expect.

This is where a mystery breeder comes into the picture. KC Brains brought us Mango, but Mango Kush seeds are probably derived from KC’s Mango crossed with Hindu Kush.

You might be wondering why someone would cross Mango with Hindu Kush if Mango itself already contains Afghani Kush genetics. Ironically enough, KC’s Mango doesn’t smell like Mangoes! The mystery breeder in question probably — and luckily — stumbled upon a phenotype with intense mango aromas after experimenting with hybrids.

That’s all there is to the speculative origin story of Mango Kush, unfortunately. While not a whole lot is known about where this strain comes from, how to grow it is very well understood.

Hop over to the next section to find out how to easily grow Mango Kush seeds.

Growing Mango Kush Seeds

Mango Kush seeds don’t weigh your shoulders with difficulty. These are seeds that want to grow. They’re vigorous, opportunistic, and seem to jump out of the soil with just the tiniest bit of motivation.

With all of these characteristics and more, Mango Kush seeds are perfect for the beginner grower, or someone looking for a stable and rewarding plant for their garden rotation.

Grow Difficulty:

Growing Mango Kush seeds is moderately easy for beginners and very easy for experienced growers.

Mango Kush seeds are likely descended from KC Brains’ Mango and Hindu Kush parents. On paper, this gives Mango Kush a lineage profile that’s predominantly indica.

Why should that matter to you? Indicas tend to grow short, bushy, and compact, making them simpler to manage if you’re a beginner.

Optimal Growing Conditions and Climate:

Just like its namesake tropical fruit, Mango Kush loves warm conditions. Unlike the tropical fruit, however, Mango Kush seeds should not be grown in a humid environment.

If you’re just starting on your cannabis cultivation journey, you’ll find that the vast majority of cannabis strains prefer relatively arid conditions. Fairly arid is, generally speaking, anything less than 65% relative humidity, with sub 40%-45% being ideal.

When deciding whether to plant your Mango Kush seeds indoors or outdoors, consider which area is less humid, has better airflow, and maintains a temperature range between 70°F and 85°F. Growing indoors means you can control and modulate these conditions, whereas growing outdoors means more space and a higher yield.

While Mango Kush seeds can tolerate normal fluctuations in temperature, if you leave them exposed for long periods without adequate airflow or in overly moist conditions, your buds will start to rot. Therefore, aside from giving the plants all the ventilation and fresh air circulation they need, canopy control is a top priority.

Your Mango Kush seeds will grow into thick bushes full of leaf coverage. The best way to keep them happy, given you’re maintaining conditions as outlined, is to prune the lower leaves, sending as much energy to the upper canopy as possible.

Doing so has the double effect of creating more enormous colas during flowering, and exposing more of the plant to airflow, a win-win for you and the plant.

Flowering Time:

Mango Kush plants flower in 8 to 9-weeks. The short turnaround makes them an excellent choice for growers seeking multiple harvests per season.

Yield:

Mango Kush seeds are famous for their robust, somewhat heavy yields. Indoors, you can expect up to 450 grams per square meter. Outdoor-grown Mango Kush seeds perform even better with yields of up to 700 grams per plant.

Height:

If you’re short on space, Mango Kush seeds are an excellent choice. These plants grow into compact bushes that do well when planted close together.

However, the denser the plant spacing, the more you should control the canopy using SOG or SCROG techniques.

Resistance to Pests and Mold:

Mango Kush seeds are resistant to pests and mold owing to their landrace indica genetics.

Strain Description and Properties

The Appearance of Mango Kush Weed:

Like a mango that’s dripping juice on a hot summer day, Mango Kush nugs are covered in melty trichome orbs that flash in summer’s bright rays. Similar to pieces of candied mango, these dessert nugs are meant for savoring with your senses.

Dense to the squeeze and juicy sweet to the nose, Mango Kush buds provide you with plenty of eye candy. Deep orange pistils surge from fresh green leafy cores that, if grown under cool conditions, sometimes flip purple.

Dominant Cannabinoids Found in Mango Kush Seeds:

Mango Kush seeds are THC dominant but do contain trace amounts of CBD. In lab tests, Mango Kush THC levels typically range between 15%-20%, with CBD topping out at 1%.

Dominant Terpenes Found in Mango Kush Seeds:

Where do the funky fruit aroma and taste profile of Mango Kush come from? Why, the terpenes, of course!

Terpenes are chemical compounds responsible for certain scents and flavors. These are the dominant terpenes found in Mango Kush seeds:

  • Myrcene — Flowery, herbal, and at times fruity, myrcene delivers pleasant complexity to the nose.
  • Caryophyllene — As a primary pain-fighting terpene found in cannabis, caryophyllene is highly-regarded for its medicinal effects and spicy flavor.
  • Pinene — No terpene is more abundant on Earth than pinene. As you might have guessed, it adds fresh forest flavors to Mango Kush weed.

Effects of Mango Kush Weed:

Smoking a bowl of Mango Kush is a lot like biting into your favorite fruit. It’s satisfying, makes you incredibly happy, and gets the mood-boosting juice flowing.

Mango Kush is an uplifting strain that’s relaxing and euphoric while keeping your energy levels on point. While the last hour of a Mango Kush high can easily mellow you into bed, smoking it during the day is perfectly doable if you keep the hits to a minimum.

Potency wise, Mango Kush is more of a creeper than a hard-hitter. At first, you’ll probably find everything funny as your focus becomes more acute. Later, the strain’s indica traits play a larger role, setting you down gently with a case of the munchies.

Medical Properties of Mango Kush Seeds:

As a potent indica-dominant hybrid, Mango Kush is excellent for managing pain. However, the strain’s well-documented ability to counter stress is also of great medicinal value.

Use Mango Kush to treat:

  • Stress
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • PTSD
  • Pain
  • Arthritis
  • Workout recovery

Negative Effects of Mango Kush Weed:

Smoking Mango Kush weed has two tiny drawbacks — dry eyes, and dry mouth.

Over-indulging may lead to a bit of dizziness or paranoia, but these are easily avoided by smoking small amounts at a time.
